Testimonials

"I congratulate CEA for establishing the Sustainable Electricity program. It has positioned CEA and members to play a leadership role in Canada. CEA membership has a great set of challenges, including: $293 billion potential investment over the next 20 years to replace aging generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure; smart grid; climate change mitigation, adaptation and innovation; demand management; integrating energy into sustainable city and community strategies; and aboriginal relationships. A strength of the Sustainable Electricity program is how it fosters a holistic look at these issues to ensure that future generations have sustainable and reliable electricity.”

By the Hon. Mike Harcourt,
30th premier of British Columbia

Program Overview

In February 2009, the utility members of CEA launched the Sustainable Electricity program to further strengthen their commitment to sustainable development. The participation in the program is a condition of CEA membership, and all utilities are expected to implement the program principles and performance measures within their organizations.
